Duplicate Ukrainian death certificate from abroad
We obtain a duplicate death certificate from any civil registry office in Ukraine for relatives who live abroad. You do not need to travel.
When you need it
Inheritance
Notaries and courts, in Ukraine and abroad, ask for the death certificate to open an estate.
Pensions and insurance
Closing a pension, claiming insurance or survivor benefits.
Family records and citizenship
Tracing ancestry or proving descent for citizenship applications.
The original is lost
The certificate stayed in Ukraine, was lost or is damaged.
What we need from you
- A scan or photo of your passport
- The deceased person’s full name, date and place of death
- A document proving the relationship — a birth or marriage certificate
- A photo of the old certificate if one survives
- The address the finished document should be sent to
We prepare everything required to approach the civil registry office on your behalf. Your presence in Ukraine is not needed.
How it works
- You send the details — we check that they are enough to find the registry entry.
- We prepare the documents needed for the request.
- We apply to the civil registry office where the death was registered.
- We collect the duplicate and, if you need it, have the apostille added straight away.
- The finished document is sent to your address in Ukraine or abroad.
Price and timeline
Not everyone needs an apostille. If the document is for use in Ukraine, or in a country that has a legal assistance treaty with Ukraine, it is not required. Tell us where you are submitting it and we will say whether you need one — check your country.
Duplicate, apostille and translation in one order
If the document is going abroad, it makes sense to do all three steps together: the duplicate, the apostille from the Ministry of Justice and a notarized translation into the language you need. The apostille stamp is translated as well. One order, one delivery, no shipping the document back and forth.
Is a duplicate as good as the original?
Yes. A duplicate (in Ukrainian, povtorne svidotstvo) is not a copy. It is a new certificate on a blank form, issued from the same registry entry, with the same legal force. In practice it is often accepted more readily than a worn Soviet-era original.

The most common request — including replacing a laminated certificate.

Needed to remarry abroad.

Police clearance
With apostille and translation.
