Marriage certificate translation
We translate Ukrainian marriage certificates for use abroad and foreign ones into Ukrainian. If needed, we obtain the Ministry of Justice apostille before translating, and a Ukrainian notary certifies the translation.
When you need it
Documents abroad
Residence permit, family reunification, a new surname in foreign documents, registering children. Usually an apostille and a translation into the local language are required.
A foreign certificate in Ukraine
You married abroad, but the paperwork is in Ukraine: a surname change, a residence permit for your spouse, notarial acts. A Ukrainian translation certified by a notary is required.
Married in Ukraine
After registering a marriage in Ukraine, the foreign spouse often needs the certificate translated for a residence permit or for their home country.
Good to know in advance
- Apostille first, translation second. The apostille goes on the original, and we translate the certificate together with it. The other way round, you pay for the translation twice.
- Names as in both spouses’ international passports. Send photos of the passports with the certificate.
- Maiden names get the same care as the new ones — authorities use them to match your other documents.
How it works
A photo is enough for a quote. The apostille and notarization need the original: bring it to our office or send it by Nova Poshta — we return it the same way.

Frequently asked questions
How much does a marriage certificate translation cost?
Translation from 500 UAH plus 500 UAH for notarization. A Ministry of Justice apostille, if needed, is 1,200 UAH. Less common languages are 600 UAH for the translation, Swedish and Greek 700 UAH.
Apostille or translation — which comes first?
The apostille. It goes on the original certificate, and the certificate is then translated together with the apostille.
Does my country require an apostille?
Most countries do. For countries with a legal assistance treaty with Ukraine, such as the Czech Republic, a notarized translation is usually enough. Check your country on our “Do I need an apostille?” page.
My certificate is laminated. What now?
A laminated document cannot be apostilled. Order a duplicate certificate — you keep your original, and the new copy with the apostille goes abroad.
Can I order without coming to Zhytomyr?
Yes. Send photos by Telegram, WhatsApp or email, and the original by Nova Poshta. We send the finished documents back the same way, within Ukraine or abroad.
